Myriah Diaz swung a dangerous bat for Carpinteria’s softball team on Saturday, getting five hits in six at-bats as the Warriors won twice on the final day of the Santa Ynez Tournament to finish with a 3-1 record.
Diaz was 2-for-3 in an 11-5 victory over Santa Ynez and went 3-for-3 in Carpinteria’s 10-0 victory over Santa Maria. The game with the Pirates lasted six innings before it was called on a time limit, while the game with Santa Maria ended after 4 1/2 innings because of the mercy rule.
Diaz collected 5 RBIs, including a three-run triple and a solo home run.
Catalina Maldonado recorded the victory from the pitcher’s circle against Santa Ynez and Tatiana Verdugo picked up the victory over Santa Maria.
The Warriors were down 5-1 to the Pirates before a 10-run inning catapulted them to the win. Carpinteria sent 15 batters to the plate in the top of the sixth, which featured a two-run home run from Roxanne Hugo, a two-run single from Sarah Carrillo, and the three-run triple from Diaz.
