SBCC captured five of six singles on Friday and Caroline Wachtmeister got the decisive fifth point in her first college match as the Vaqueros topped Ventura 7-2 for a women’s tennis victory on the road.It was the second straight win and fifth in six matches for Santa Barbara (8-3, 6-2 WSC).
Kendra Ross, and Meike van Hoogenhuijze were also double winners for the Vaqueros. Wachtmeister, a freshman from Sweden, won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles and teamed with Van Hoogenhuijze for an 8-3 doubles victory.
“Caroline played a brilliant match,” said coach Debbie Ekola. “She was very relaxed and was able to win our fifth point to make it 5-1.“
The Vaqueros will take the next 10 days off for Spring Break. They return to action on April 5 at Bakersfield.
