Ventura’s boys volleyball team got the best of San Marcos in four games on Tuesday night, as the Cougars took the Channel League opener for both teams 25-18, 22-25, 25-12, 25-17 in Ventura.
“I think our serve-receive was very hit-miss tonight,” said Royals head coach Roger Kuntz. “They were in system more than we were, and I think that was the difference in the match.”
Ben Mckenzie provided a strong presence at the net for the Royals and Neil Holliday did a good job of distributing the ball according to Kuntz.
San Marcos, 11-3 overall, falls to 0-1 in league play with Santa Barbara on the schedule for Thursday.
