SBCC routed Pasadena 9-1 and was blanked by No. 8 Riverside 6-0 on Saturday night at the Bakersfield Softball Tournament.
Nicole Adair got the pitching win in her first outing of the year. She held Pasadena to four hits and struck out seven. Stephanie Bolanos went 2-3 with two RBIs, two runs scored and three stolen bases. Adair and Lisa Zeitlin had RBI doubles during a six-run uprising in the sixth.
The Vaqueros (13-2) had their school-record 12-game win streak snapped in the second game. Kailey Snyder tossed an eight-hitter with 11 strikeouts but Riverside pitcher Nicole Zink was better, allowing just four hits and fanning 12. The Tigers (21-4) are ranked No. 8 in the state.
“Riverside is very disciplined and very aggressive,” said coach Paula Congleton. “We never adjusted to their pitcher. She is, by far, the best we’ve seen this year.”
The Vaqueros are scheduled to play Bakersfield on Sunday at 1 p.m.
