UCSB dominated by No. 5 Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. – Fifth-ranked Arizona State collected its 19th run rule win of the season with its
8-0 (5 inning) victory over visiting UC Santa Barbara on Friday night. The game marked the
first in a three-game series between the Sun Devils and Gauchos.

Arizona State improved to 31-2 on the season while UCSB falls to an even 12-12.

Pitcher Dallas Escobedo (14-1), who limited the Gauchos to just three hits during the game,
led the Sun Devils. She struck out nine while walking two.

The Arizona State offense did its part in the win. Five different Sun Devils drove in runs
during a six-run second inning. Talor Haro, Katelyn Boyd, Lesley Rogers, Sam Parlich and
Annie Lockwood each registered hits to propel ASU to a 6-0 lead.

The Sun Devils were able to cut the game short after Krista Donnenwirth singled up the
middle to start the fourth inning only to see Annie Lockwood send a 2-0 pitch over the fence
pushing ASU to an 8-0 lead.

Brooke Putich had the Gauchos’ first hit of the game, a two-out single to left field in the third
inning. Kathryn Pilpil led off with a single up the middle in the fourth and Kendall Gil singled
through the left side at the top of the fifth to account for UCSB’s other two hits.

Andriana Collins (8-7) suffered the loss in the circle after allowing all eight runs on 10 hits.
She walked five and struck out one. Krista Cobb closed the game and allowed one hit in 0.2
innings.
