First-game starter Kees T’sas helped himself at the plate to spark Santa Barbara High’s baseball team to a 6-1 season-opening victory over visiting Pioneer Valley in the Central Coast Baseball Classic on Friday at Eddie Mathews Field.
T’sas ripped a two-run bases-loaded double to give him an early lead. Danny Zandona followed with a RBI single.
T’sas pitched three innings and was relieved by Collin Dewell, who also contributed to the offense with a run-scoring single in the second inning for a 4-0 lead.
Spencer Fraker scored in the fourth on a double-steal with Dewell and Kahlil Pipersburg doubled home Andrew Nagy in the sixth. Pipersburg is the nephew of former Santa Barbara football and track star Phillip Pipersburg.
The Dons continued tournament play Saturday at St. Joseph.
