Shannon Slaught and Joshua Chevez turned in positive season-opening performances for Bishop Diego’s swim team on Wednesday, as the pair swam in the Carpinteria High Meet.
Slaught was 2-for-2, winning the 100-meter breaststroke and 50-meter free. The future San Jose State swimmer’s times were good for automatic CIF qualification.
Chevez placed third in the 100 free and 100 backstroke. His effort in the 100 free brought him a personal-best time.
The Cardinals compete again on Thursday at Santa Barbara High.
