SBCC’s Dodge Ward turned in a 77 on a windy Monday to take third place in the Southern Cal Invitational at La Purisima GC in Lompoc.
Peter Prescott of Long Beach City was the medalist at even-par 72 in the seven-team men’s golf tourney. Brett Silvernail of Ventura was second with a 76.
Long Beach took the team title at 398, beating Ventura by 12 strokes and Citrus by 14. Matt Boberg shot 80 for SBCC, which took fifth at 431.
“It was a blustery day, which added to the difficulty of a tough course,” said Vaquero coach Chuck Melendez. “It wasn’t a super day for us but it was tough for everyone.”
SBCC will compete in the North-South Invitational on Sunday and Monday at Hunter Ranch in Paso Robles.
