Nicole Adair delivered a two-out RBI single in the top of the seventh on Tuesday to lift SBCC to a 3-2 comeback softball victory at Ventura. It was the ninth straight win for the Vaqueros (10-1, 2-0 WSC Gold Division), who tied the best start in school history.
Freshman catcher Stephanie Bolanos went 3-3 with two doubles and two runs. Trailing 2-1, Lisa Zeitlin opened the seventh with a single and scored the tying run on Bolanos’ double to right field. With two outs, Adair brought Bolanos home with the game-winner on a single up the middle.
Kailey Snyder improved to 10-1 with a six-hitter. She struck out eight and walked three. Facing the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 batters in the bottom of the seventh, Snyder recorded a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts.
The Vaqueros pulled within 2-1 in the fifth on a double by Bolanos and an RBI single from Joan Cannon.
Joan Cannon and Adair were both 2-4 with an RBI.
SBCC has a home doubleheader against Oxnard on Thursday, starting at 1 p.m.
