A sweep in the 100 backstroke vaulted San Marcos’ boys swimming team to a 92-77 non-league win over Oxnard on Tuesday.
James Sweeney won the race in 1:05.59 with John Errico and Chase Mcfadden taking second and third.
The San Marcos girls beat Oxnard 93-76.
Dasha Depew was a double winner, taking the 200 IM (2:22.23) and 100 butterfly (1:05.94). Ashley Wagner won the 100 back (1:08.34).
“All in all the kids performed well,” said coach Chuckie Roth.
The girls are 1-1.
The boys won only three events on the day.
“We were able to win the meet with depth and strong swims from all of our guys,” said coach Jeff Ashton. “Jason Phreaner had a great 500 in his first time ever racing it, and came from behind on the last 50 to give us our first individual win of the day.”
Phreaner’s time was 5:43.52.
The Royals won the 4×100 relay with the team of Chris Bebb, Jorge Flores, John Errico, and Abhi Frandsen. Their time was 3:45.43.
