Johnny Ruiz carded back-to-back rounds of 67 over the weekend to capture this year’s Goleta City Championship at Glen Annie Golf Club.
Ruiz, a 17-year-old from Carpinteria, was playing at a level all by himself. Ruiz’s two-day total of 134 was eight strokes better than runner-up Nick Thomas.
Last year’s runner-up Andrew Perez, who lost in a playoff with Niall Platt, placed tied for fourth at 147.
Brett Silvernail and Shane Lebow matched each other’s 143 to share third place.
Gerry Anderson won the First Flight with a net score of 134, followed closely by James Bedard’s 136.
Duke Dominguez posted an even lower net score in the Second Flight, combining rounds of 64 and 67 to total 131.
