San Marcos’ baseball team broke into the win column on Wednesday, beating Hueneme 8-3 in the Southern California Invitational.
“We didn’t play really well in the first three innings, then we settled down,” said San Marcos coach Tony Vanetti.
The teams combined for 13 errors, with Hueneme committing eight of them.
Senior Zach Colegrove went the distance on the mound for San Marcos to pick up the win.
“He threw only 77 pitches. He did really good job,” said Vanetti.
Joe Prince had two hits, including a two-run single in a five-run fifth inning that erased a 3-1 deficit. Evan Doherty hit a two-run double.
The Royals are 1-2.
