San Marcos’ boys volleyball team closed out its preseason with a strong showing at the Dos Pueblos Invitational on Saturday, tying for first in pool play before getting knocked out by the No. 1 seed in the quarterfinals of bracket play.
The Royals were beaten by defending champion Bellarmine 25-18, 25-23.
In pool play, San Marcos swept Pasadena Poly and Moorpark in two sets and split two sets with Righetti and Capistrano Valley.
“We played great the whole day; I’m very pleased with what I saw today,” said Royals head coach Roger Kuntz. “A lot of guys played really well.”
Kyle Estabrooks stood out for a number of important digs.
San Marcos will start Channel League play next week with an 11-2 record. The Royals play at Ventura on Tuesday and at Santa Barbara on Thursday.
“It was probably out best preseason ever,” Kuntz said, highlighting the Arcadia Tournament Championship.
