The Royals were beaten by defending champion Bellarmine 25-18, 25-23.

In pool play, San Marcos swept Pasadena Poly and Moorpark in two sets and split two sets with Righetti and Capistrano Valley.

“We played great the whole day; I’m very pleased with what I saw today,” said Royals head coach Roger Kuntz. “A lot of guys played really well.”

Kyle Estabrooks stood out for a number of important digs.
