Santa Ynez scored four runs in the top of eighth inning and beat San Marcos 5-1 in a non-league softball game Wednesday.
The Royals tied the score 1-1 in the fifth inning when Hannah Ball singled home Jocelyn Flattery.
In the eighth, Santa Ynez used a walk to Priscilla Trancuso followed by a double by Carly Taylor, singles by Sara Dominguez and Katie Guenther and two errors to score four runs.
Kristen Berlo and Ball who both went 2 for 4 for San Marcos. Berlo struck out 12 Santa Ynez batters.
San Marcos is now 2-2 and plays at home against Ventura on Friday.
