Laguna Blanca volleyball coach Dillan Bennett had to revamp his offense due to an injury, and the Owls came up short in a five-game boys volleyball match at Nordhoff. The scores were 21-25, 19-25, 27-25, 25-19, 15-12.
“We played pretty good tonight considering some of our circumstances,” Bennett said. “(Wednesday), our starting opposite, Pascal Karam, went down with a sprained ankle, which meant we had to switch from a 5-1 offense to a 6-2 with zero practice time. On the bus ride up, we had to learn all of the rotations and defensive positions on the fly.”
Spencer Dusebout had eight kills and three digs, and Parker Lilly added seven kills, two blocks and seven digs to pace the Owls (2=3).
“What i’m happy with is we are right there with some pretty good teams,” Bennett said. “Every game our guys learn more and get better. Hopefully, Friday night we can give Salesian a good match.”
Laguna Blanca plays host to third-ranked Salesian at 5 p.m. On Saturday, the Owls will participate in the Dos Pueblos Invitational at UCSB’s Thunderdome.
