Arianna Leos started and finished a seventh-inning winning rally for Santa Barbara High’s softball team on Tuesday.
Leos tripled to lead off the inning and drove in the winning run with a walk-off single as the Dons (3-1) scored six runs to beat Bishop Diego 15-14.
“Our girls did a really good job battling back,” Santa Barbara coach Alex Sheldon said. “It was really fun to have a walk-off.
Trailing 14-9, Santa Barbara batted around in the seventh. Angela Biancone belted a three-run double to cut the deficit to 14-13. Sheila Lopez singled to drive in Biancone to tie the score. Lopez stole second and Bishop Diego intentionally walked the next batter. Leos singled and Lopez scored. She slid under a tag at home plate for the winning run.
Biancone went 4-for-5 and drove in six runs. Leos was 4-for-5.
