Tristan Lake broke 40 seconds in the 300 hurdles for San Marcos at the Ventura Invitational on Saturday.
Lake clocked a meet-record 39.62 to win the race.
“That is so big,” said San Marcos coach Marilyn Hantgin.
Elysia Hodges won the girls’ 300 hurdles in a meet-record46.11. She also was part of the Royals’ winning 4×400 relay team, which set a stadium record with a time of 3:59. Hannah McDaniel, Maria Brashears and Kaylin Koopmans were the other members of the team.
McDaniel had a blazing anchor leg of 57 seconds.
In other highlights, Shane Rowan won the triple jump with a meet-record leap of 43-3, the girls 4×800 relay team took third place, the boys 4×400 team took third and the 4×800 team placed fifth.
