Laguna Blanca struggled with its passing and dropped its first match of the season against Santa Ynez. The game scores were 25-15, 25-21, 25-14.
“Unfortunately, we played about as bad as we could and Santa Ynez played really well,” Laguna coach Dillan Bennett said. “They came out hungrier than we did after losing to Bishop Diego last night.”
Pascal Karam had six kills and three digs, and Parker Lilly had four kills and two digs for the Owls (2-1)
“My coach at Dos Pueblos, Chris Hughes, always preached to us, ‘if you can’t pass, you can’t play volleyball.’ Tonight , our passing broke down completely, ending any chance of running even the most basic offense.”
Despite the team’s passing struggles, Bennett said he was pleased with how the middles attacked the ball.
“We worked on it this week, and it would have paid off if we passed the ball well,” said Bennett
Laguna Blanca travels to St. Joseph in Santa Maria on Tuesday.
