San Marcos didn’t skip a beat with a new opposite hitter Tuesday.
Junior Spencer Johnson switched from the middle to the outside — replacing the injured Johnny Manzo — and delivered nine kills in a 25-17, 25-12, 25-15 sweep at Arroyo Grande.
“I want to develop a chemistry with a new opposite and we got solid volleyball out of him,” San Marcos coach Roger Kuntz said about Johnson. “He’s a big leaper. It’s nice to have him on the back side.”
The win improved San Marcos to 10-1.
“This was a good Arroyo Grande team. We’re just on fire right now,” said Kuntz.
Zach Yinger led the Royals’ attack with 15 kills and Jackson Kunz added 12. Setter Neil Holliday dished out 29 assists.
The Royals host San Luis Obispo on Wednesday.
