Hannah Harris pitched a five-hit shutout, and Dos Pueblos ended a seven-game losing streak against Buena, beating the Bulldogs 2-0 in a Channel League softball game Tuesday in Ventura.
“This is the first win against Buena in two years,” said DP coach Donn Roberts. “And, it’s the first time in three years Buena has not been in first place.”
Agnetta Cleland drove in Chloe Madill in the first inning with a deep double to left, and DP scored its second run in the fourth on some aggressive base running by Marissa Radeke.
Harris and the Charger defense did the rest.
“The team played the best team defense this year,” Roberts said. “We got key defensive plays by Agnetta Cleland, Alex McKernan, Chloe Madill and Ashlynd Williams, and Haley Peterson was solid behind the dish.”
Harris struck out five and walked two in handing Buena its first shutout loss of the season.
DP improves to 6-4 and 3-0 in Channel League; Buena is 3-3, 1-1.
