Dos Pueblos came back from five runs down to beat Flowing Wells, Ariz., 17-6 in a 5-inning mercy rule game at the Chris Moon Memorial Classic in Arizona on Thursday.
Down five by the third inning, DP began its comeback with five runs in the third. The Chargers (7-2) then added nine more runs and 10 hits, including two home runs and three doubles in the fourth inning
Dos Pueblos’ Mike Spiritosanto had a strong performance going 3 for 4 with three runs and three RBIs and a home run. Senior John Corazza was 3-3 with a triple and two runs scored and three RBIs for the day. Colin Cole finished off the day with three hits.
“Corazza and Spiritosanto contributed immensly on the offensive attack,” praised head coach Nate Mendoza. “I’m really proud of the response after being down 5-0.”
Joe Huthsing and Ryan Beveridge both pitched in with two RBIs and two runs each.
Corazza is a senior.
