Santa Barbara High’s baseball team completed a 3-0 week on Saturday, topping Calabasas 6-2 in the first game of the Chatsworth Tournament.
The Dons rode the arms of Nick Below and Lucas Benenati to the victory as their bats produced six runs a day after not recording a hit.
Below recorded the victory for throwing three scoreless innings in relief of starter Colin Eaton. Benenati closed out the game with three more scoreless innings.
The Coyotes scored twice in the top of the first before the Dons answered with two in the bottom half of the inning and four more in the second inning.
Cameron Gniadek and Pepe Gil knocked RBI doubles in the four-run second inning. Gniadek and Collin Dewell recorded two hits each, with Dewell also scoring twice and adding two RBIs. Kees T’Sas also had two hits.
“It was cold, but it wasn’t rainy at all,” said Dons assistant coach Mike Cooney of the afternoon.
Santa Barbara (6-1) heads into the new week with two crosstown Channel League games on the schedule starting with San Marcos on Tuesday.
