Dons take key league matchup with Chargers

Santa Barbara tennis defeated Dos Pueblos 13-5 on Tuesday, with strong performances by Sammer Aziz and doubles Chris Grant and Logan Liddell.

Aziz went 2-0 in singles, while Grant and Liddell also swept their doubles matches 2-0. Dos Pueblos’ No. 1 singles player Jared Madison went 2-1 against Santa Barbara’s top singles players.

“It was a very competitive match with great tennis being played from both teams,” said Santa Barbara head coach Greg Tebbe. “We were determined to get out to a quick start today and I was pleased with the focus our team showed especially in the first round.”

With this win, Santa Barbara improves to 4-1, while Dos Pueblos drops to 4-3.

“I was impressed by the fine display of camaraderie and sportsmanship among the players, coaches, and spectators,” said Chargers head coach Liz Frech.

Santa Barbara’s next match is at Ventura this Thursday while Dos Pueblos hosts Buena that same day.
