Santa Barbara turned in an impressive performance at the California High School Boys Tennis Classic in Fresno over the weekend, winning three of four matches to finish fifth.
The tournament drew more than 110 teams.
Junior Chris Grant won three of four matches in singles and the Dons went 8-4 in doubles.
Santa Barbara opened with a 4-3 win over Los Gatos and then lost 7-0 to eventual tournament champion Menlo. The Dons bounced back with victories over Monte Vista (4-3) and Leland (6-1).
“It was a great result for Santa Barbara,” said first-year coach Greg Tebbe.
The Dons (4-1) return home Tuesday with a home match against a strong Palos Verdes team.
