Santa Barbara High’s boys tennis team was given the No. 2 ranking in Division I on Monday, as the boys tennis polls were released by CIF for the first time.
The Dons are behind No. 1 University, which defeated Santa Barbara in last year’s CIF final.
Santa Barbara High’s baseball team is also ranked No. 2, coming in behind Alemany in Division II for the second-straight week. The Dons opened their 2011 campaign with two victories over the weekend.
The Dons’ boys volleyball team is also in the polls for Division I. The ninth-ranked Dons just experienced a good early-season test, losing to No. 2 Mira Costa in four games on Friday night.
Carpinteria’s softball team remains the only ranked team in the area at an unchanged No. 8 in Division VI. The softball teams at Dos Pueblos, San Marcos and Santa Barbara should take note of the polls, however, because Buena is No. 2 in Division IV.
