This week’s set of CIF polls remained largely unchanged for local teams, with the exception of Bishop Diego’s baseball team receiving votes for the first time this season.
The Cardinals (4-2) were only 1-1 last week, but won Friday’s Frontier League opener 5-1 over Santa Clara behind Cody Yokubaitis’ 10-strikeout one-hitter. Bishop Diego will see if it deserves to climb higher in the Division VI rankings on Wednesday, when it takes on No. 6 Villanova.
Santa Barbara High’s baseball team, boys volleyball team and boys tennis team did not drop or fall, instead holding on to their respective rankings from the week before. The Dons baseball team is the highest of those as the No. 2 team in Division II.
In softball, Dos Pueblos and Carpinteria retained their positions from the previous week in Division IV and Division VI, respectively.
