Jay Larinan and Mansai Conner came off the basketball court to lead the Dos Pueblos boys volleyball team in a season-opening 25-19, 25-20, 25-16 sweep at Newbury Park on Wednesday.
Larinan and Conner each had eight kills and Conner added three blocks for the new-look Chargers, wnich lost 13 seniors from last year’s team that won the Channel League.
“The guys stepped in and did great,” DP coach Chris Hughes said. “I’m happy as a coach. We’re coming together nicely.”
Gabe Burdick, Keaton Arutian each had two blocks and freshman Nico Plesons contributed two aces in his varsity debut.
The Chargers play at Royal on Friday.
