Dos Pueblos erupted for five runs in the first inning and held off Ventura 8-6 in the Channel League softball opener for both teams on Thursday in Ventura.
Six of nine Chargers singled in the first inning.
“The hitters came alive in this one,” said DP coach Donn Roberts. “It was a great Channel League opener.”
Jordan Roberts and Agnetta Cleland each drove in two runs. Hannah Harris, Cleland and Ashlynd Williams all had two hits, and Marisa Radeke rapped a run-scoring triple.
On the mound, Harris struck out eight and walked two.
Dos Pueblos improved to 3-0.
