Due to rain delays and a recent spring break, the Cate School baseball team played its season opener on Tuesday, winning 5-2 against Camp Kilpatrick.
Robert Fairbanks pitched four innings for Cate, allowing only one run in the second and fourth innings, along with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks for the day. Jackson Mauze took over in the sixth to finish off the game.
Cate scored three runs in the third to take the lead 3-1. Zach Ell brought in two of those runs, while the third was scored off an error.
While both teams shared a run in the fourth, Cate finished strong in the sixth as Erik Lowe brought in Micheal Warren on a sacrifice fly.
“For our first game of the year, I felt we did a pretty good job,” said head coach Ben Soto.
A number of names are wrong, the pitcher’s name is Robert Fairbanks, it was Jackson Mauze not Teddy Mauze, and Eric Lowe instead of Erin.
