Kristen Berlo struck out 11 and didn’t walk a batter in helping the San Marcos softball team to a season-opening win at Channel Islands on Tuesday.
Jocelyn Flattery went 2-for-3 and scored two runs for the Royals, who jumped on the Raiders with three runs in the first inning, Flattery, Hannah Ball, Emily Dietz and Brooke Daniels had consecutive hits that led to the runs.
San Marcos added four runs in the 4th inning on singles by Hannah Johnson, Stephanie Swann and Kristen Berlo, and two hit batters.
