Santa Barbara’s Bryce Vinion and Lucas Rascon of Dos Pueblos were seeded first and second, respectively, in the 191-pound weight class for the CIF Individual Wrestling Championships Friday and Saturday at Roosevelt High in Corona.
The individual championships are broken into seven eight-league divisions. The Channel League is in the Inland Division with the Big VIII, Citrus Belt, Pioneer, Rio Hondo, San Gabriel Valley, Suburban and Sunset leagues.
The top five wrestlers in each weight class in each division advance to the Masters Meet, the final step before the State Meet.
Vinion defeated Rascon in the Channel League Championships two weeks ago. He is Santa Barbara’s first league champion in several years.
Dos Pueblos has four other wrestlers seeded in their weight classes. Harrison Solomon is No. 3 at 127 pounds, Chad Lampe is fifth seeded at 114, Brandon Velazquez fifth at 154 and Nico Sorenson sixth at 121 pounds.
