Mt. San Jacinto won four of six singles matches and went on to defeat SBCC 6-3 on Tuesday, spoiling the home opener for the men’s tennis team.
“We had some guys out with eligibility issues but the guys who played really competed,” said coach Ryan Heinberg.
Nikolay Ivanov and Troy Akin registered wins at No. 1 and 5 singles, respectively, for the Vaqueros (0-2). The doubles team of Akin and Che Borja also prevailed 6-0, 6-4.
The Vaqueros open WSC play on Thursday with a 2 p.m. home match against Glendale.
