UCSB women’s tennis closes out strong homestand

The Gauchos concluded their season opening six-game home stand by sweeping University of San Francisco 7-0, extending their winning streak to five matches.

All five victories have come by way of shutout and the team’s lone loss of the season came in the opener against Santa Clara.

Jill Damion was first off the court for the Gauchos defeating Cecile Duriez 6-2, 6-3 at #2 singles. Jordan Dockendorf remained perfect on the season with her sixth straight singles win over Cecilia Gratian 6-3, 6-1. Dockendorf is undefeated in singles (6-0) and doubles (5-0) on the season.

Kiersten Meehan clinched the victory for the Gauchos defeating Ali McMahon in straight sets 6-1, 6-3.

The Gauchos took the doubles point behind solid performances from their two undefeated doubles pairings. At court #1 Dockendorf and Natalia Lozano defeated Blair Reed and Cecilia Gratian 8-3. Sofia Novak and Kiersten Meehan also kept their winning streak going at court #3 defeating Julia Watenburger and Andrea Gatian 8-1.

Up next for the Gauchos is their Big West opener against Cal State Northridge Saturday, Feb. 19. Match time is 12:00 p.m.
