Kailey Snyder gave up a leadoff single, then nothing else on Tuesday as SBCC blanked Canyons 6-0 in a nonconference softball game in Santa Clarita.
The sophomore right-hander allowed just two runners in a one-hitter that featured nine strikeouts and one walk. “That’s her first walk of the year,” said coach Paula Congleton of Snyder (3-1), who’s struck out 34 in 26 innings.
The Vaqueros (3-1) scored six runs in the first three innings. Joan Cannon led off the game with a triple and scored on a single by her twin sister, Laura, during a three-run first. Snyder, Joan Cannon and Carly Smith all went 3-for-4 with Snyder driving in two runs and Smith one.
The Vaqueros are slated to play a home doubleheader on Saturday against East L.A. (10 a.m.) and L.A. Mission (2 p.m.) but there’s a strong chance of rain.
