Santa Barbara’s Bryce Vinion and Chad Lampe of Dos Pueblos were both eliminated on the first day of the CIF Masters Wrestling Meet in Temecula.
The Masters is the final step before the State Meet.
Vinion, a junior, wrestling in the 189-pound class, was pinned in his first match by Paul Yoo of Cypress and then lost a 3-0 decision against Dennis Ruan of Diamond Bar.
The 112-pound Lampe, a sophomore, lost his first match by fall late in the third period against junior Matt Nader of Canyon. He came back in the consolation round and beat Magnolia senior Johnny Santellian, 2-1, before being ousted by Hugo Perez, a senior at Alhambra, 9-1.
Vinion and Lampe were both Channel League champions and finished in the top five at the CIF Individual Divisional championships to qualify for the Masters.
