Nicci Yvanovich won the only singles match that went three sets on Thursday as SBCC blanked Glendale 9-0 in its WSC women’s tennis opener at Glendale.
Yvanovich, a transfer from Texas-San Antonio, beat Samantha Sismundo 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
“Nicci cruised through the first set, then the other girl caught fire,” said coach Debbie Ekola. “I had a little chit-chat with Nicci and she dominated the third set.”
All three wins for the Vaqueros (3-1, 1-0) have come by 9-0 scores. SBCC will battle Cypress on Friday at 2 p.m. on the Pershing Park courts.
