Jasmine Mata hit three straight 3-pointers to ignite the Dos Pueblos girls basketball team to a 69-42 Channel League win over San Marcos on Wednesday night.
“That gave us a lot of energy,” said DP coach Jelani Hicks. “We were up by 13 at halftime and in the second half we buckled down on defense and took over the game.”
Mata scored 17 points and Talitha Draper and Jessica Escalante added 13 points for the Chargers, who finished 2-6 in league and 16-10 overall.
Valentina Garcia, the lone senior on the team, scored five points and grabbed six rebounds.
“She played really well,” said Hicks.
Desiree Porter-Ray led San Marcos.
