Melissa Lemus scored 20 points and dished out seven assists to lead the Carpinteria girls basketball team to a 50-30 win over La Reina in a Tri-Valley League basketball game on Thursday night.
Juli Cullins had 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, as the Warriors outscored the Regents 12-4 in the third quarter to pull away.
Elena Schneider scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds and captain Mirina de Leon hauled in nine boards.
Coach Dan Mercer said he’s pleased at how the team has jelled with Lemus at point guard.
“We’re growing and learning how to play with Melissa as our point guard,” he said.
The Warriors (11-11, 5-3) are tied for second place with Santa Paula. They host the Cardinals on Tuesday.
