Down two starters, Laguna Blanca managed to pull out a 28-21 Condor League girls basketball win Friday.
“It resembled more of a street fight than a basketball game,” said Laguna Blanca coach Chris Foster, who had starting forward Amanda Schulenberg battling the flu and point guard Julia Kent suffering from a mild concussion after being knocked down in the second half.
The Owls managed to pull it off with balanced scoring. Schulenberg, Krysta Brown, and Marla Bonser each scored six points and Natalie Nomura had five points, including a key 3-pointer in the fourth quarter.
The win puts the Owls (6-10) in second place in the Condor League at 3-3. Cate can tie them with win over Dunn next week. A coin flip would decided the league’s No. 2 CIF qualifier.
