Reese Hutchins shot 82 on Monday and the SBCC men’s golf team placed sixth in WSC No. 3 at par-72 Saticoy CC in Somis.
Jeff Lester turned in an 83 for the Vaqueros, who finished at 430. That was 49 strokes higher than their season-best of 381, which came one week earlier at Alisal Ranch in Solvang.
“It was windy after 4-5 holes and Saticoy is always a difficult course,” said coach Chuck Melendez. “The course manhandled us and so did our opponents.”
Canyons won the meet with 382 strokes, eight better than Glendale. Max Cohen was the medalist for the Cougars at 72. Canyons (18-0) has a six-game lead over Hancock (12-6) in the WSC standings.
Kyle Rieb shot 86 for the Vaqueros, who played without Matt Boberg (illness), one of their top players.
SBCC will compete in WSC No. 4 on Monday at Santa Maria CC.
