Santa Barbara’s girls water polo team suffered two losses at the SoCal Championships on Saturday, but still finished with its best finish since 2005.
The Dons placed fourth after an 11-6 loss to Laguna Beach and an 8-6 loss to Newport Harbor. Santa Barbara had won three straight matches to make Saturday morning’s semifinals.
Kelsey O’Brien scored a team-high three goals against the Sailors while Makenzy Fowler and Betsy Hendrix matched each other’s two goals for the team lead against Laguna.
Santa Barbara has a final league game on Tuesday with Ventura before awaiting the CIF playoff draw.
