Dos Pueblos’ No. 1 girls water polo team will start its postseason run to another CIF title on Wednesday, hosting a first-round CIF match against a wild-card winner.
Dos Pueblos has won three straight CIF titles, including the last two in Division I. The Chargers are 27-0 this season and have not lost since February of 2009.
The Chargers and Santa Barbara’s sixth-ranked Dons are on opposite sides of the Division I draw released on Sunday for this year’s CIF Southern Section-Ford Championships, presented by Farmers.
Both teams open up postseason play on Wednesday at home, with the Chargers hosting a wild-card game winner and the Dons facing Palos Verdes. Estancia and Canyon of Anaheim will meet on Tuesday for the chance to play Dos Pueblos on Wednesday.
San Marcos, the Channel League’s third-place team, will host Redondo on Tuesday in a wild-card match.
Carpinteria made the postseason in Division VI as the Tri-Valley League’s No. 2 team. The Warriors will open up against Mayfield at home on Tuesday. Cate finished behind Carpinteria in TVL play and will have to travel to Downey for a first-round match, also on Tuesday.
