Dos Pueblos flung itself into the winner’s circle on Monday by winning the day’s final two sets, which gave the Chargers a clutch 10-8 victory over Thousand Oaks in their season opener.
The doubles teams of Peter Shao-Mason Casady and Jake Roberts-Caleb Franzen pulled out set wins in the third round to tilt the decision in DP’s favor. The match had been tied after two rounds of play.
Dos Pueblos took seven of the nine doubles sets.
Chargers head coach Elizabeth Frech pointed out that it was the first Dos Pueblos win over Thousand Oaks in five years. The Lancers were without Marcus Giron and the Chargers were without Jared Madison, as both were competing in USTA National Opens.
