All three of Cate’s senior captains scored in their final high school water polo match, as the Rams fell 11-5 at Downey in the first round of Division VI CIF on Tuesday.
Kate Montgomery led the Rams with three goals while Annelies Northup and Carly Beidul recorded one each.
Downey dampened Cate’s hopes of reaching the second round early, piling up a 6-0 lead before Cate scored its first goal.
It was the fourth-straight year Cate advanced to the playoffs. The Rams qualified by finishing third in the Tri-Valley League and finish their season with a 6-11 record.
