Bishop Diego coach Dean Prophet has a defensive goal of holding teams under 50 points.
His Frontier League-champion Cardinals achieved that goal Wednesday night in a 75-47 win over Villanova.
“In the second half, we played really good defense,” Prophet said. “We held them to 14 and 11 points in the last two quarters.”
Offensively, Alex Ramirez scored nine points in the first half to get the Cardinals off and running.
“It seems like he was hitting everything,” said Prophet.
Elias Munoz led the team with 16 points, Nolan Tisdale had 12 points, Reece Moulton nine and Johnny Diaz nine on three 3-pointers.
Bishop Diego (18-7) finished league at 9-1.
