Junior guard Landon Boucher dialed in five baskets from long distance to lead Westmont Men’s Basketball (16-6, 8-5 GSAC) to a 77-72 Golden State Athletic Conference win over California Baptist (12-11, 6-8) in Murchison gym on Thursday night. Boucher finished with 19 points and three rebounds.
The back and fourth battle saw the Warriors trailing 33-31 at halftime. Tied at 46-all with thirteen minutes to play, the Warriors went on an 11-3 run, consisting of three jumpers by Dan Rasp (10 points), a three-pointer by Boucher, and a jumper by TJ Lipold (4 points). The Warriors never trailed again.
Two additional Warriors scored in double-figures. Preston Branson notched 13 points while Niko Brooks added 11 points, four assists and three rebounds.
Evan Haines and Blake Bender each scored eight points with Haines adding 11 rebounds and four blocked shots and Bender pulling down nine boards.
As a result of the win, Westmont is tied for fourth in the GSAC standings with Point Loma Nazarene. The Warriors are one game behind No. 18 Biola and one game ahead of Fresno Pacific.
Westmont will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Fullerton to take on the Royals of Hope International (13-10, 4-9).
