Luca Rigatoni got on the end of a Johnny Requejo corner kick and put it away with seconds to go, lifting Carpinteria to a 1-0 win at Oak Park in a Tri-Valley League boys soccer match on Wednesday,
“We wanted to score, we didn’t want to go overtime,” Carpinteria coach Danny Torres said. “The boys just wanted it in regulation.”
It was the fourth straight road game for the Warriors, who were coming off a loss at Santa Paula.
“We played good defense. Our guys played an outstanding game in the back,” said Torres, citing Luis Cisneros, Manuel Salinas, Genaro Hurtado and goalkeeper Eric Rojas.
Carpinteria improves to 11-3-3 and 5-2 in the TVL.
