Malibu picked up its first Frontier League win on Friday night, taking it from Carpinteria in a 53-40 decision.
The Warriors outscored the Sharks in the second half but had dug themselves too deep a hole.
“They were hungry for their first win,” said Warriors head coach Johnny Ward. “We just needed another gear tonight.”
Trevor Madden was Carpinteria’s leading scorer with 12.
Carpinteria falls to 2-3 in league after the first round of games with two contests coming up this week. The Warriors host Villanova on Wednesday before traveling to Santa Paula for a Friday night matchup.
