Carpinteria’s shooting struggles continued, as the Warriors fell at Villanova, 51-38, in a Tri-Valley League opener on Friday.
“We just haven’t been able to put the ball in the hole right now,” Carpinteria coach Johnny Ward said. “We had the looks, we just didn’t put them in.”
Villanova used its size advantage to make it difficult for Carpinteria to score inside.
“We missed a lot of layups and they had seven or eight blocked shots. That’s about 35 points left on the floor,” Ward said. “If we made half of those shots, it would have been a completely different game.”
Eric Trujillo scored 11 points to lead Carpinteria (9-6, 0-1).
