Carpinteria lost big man Trevor Madden to a knee injury midway through the third period and then got outscored 18-6 in the final quarter, leading to a 50-42 basketball loss at Santa Paula on Friday night
Madden was taking a charging foul and got hit on the outside of his knee.
“That really hurt us,” Carpinteria coach Johnny Ward said. “Santa Paula picked up and got the game going in their tempo and knocked down shots.”
Myles Menegon scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Carpinteria, which fell to 12-9 and 3-4 in the Frontier League.
